GREECE! Part 3...Paros

Paros is completely different than Mykonos…a large island made up of many small fishing villages, white sand beaches instead of rocky beaches, and more “country-feeling” & laid-back, rather than “party city.”  We stayed in the small town of Drios, at the most adorable B&B!

So, the owner of our B&B, Gregory (a.k.a. Grekko, as I like to call him), was fantastic.  He barely spoke any English, so it was always a game to try and figure out what he was saying…he used a lot of hand signals and sound effects to help us understand, but half of  the time we still had absolutely NO idea what he was saying to us!  Haha  He was ALWAYS around, offering us fresh apricots from his garden and/or wanting us to smell all the different herbs growing in his garden; it was too cute.  While the girls were up getting ready each night, the boys were usually out back sipping on a Mythos overlooking the Med, and sure enough, Grekko was sitting there alongside them enjoying a beer as well, just like he was another one of the guys.  I mean, Grekko just has that great, positive effect on people…you always find yourself smiling when you’re around him!

Grekko of course loved Grant :)

Our first outing in Paros was Golden Beach!  Oh, was it lovely…soft sand beneath our feet, Mythos in hand, and a picnic out on the beach for lunch – perfection!

For dinner that night, we made the short (2-minute) walk into “town” to enjoy some of Greek’s finest.  And this is where we made our new friend, Ouzo!  Ouzo is the cutest stray dog around (there are TONS of stray dogs all around Greece, it’s so sad!  Apparently they all have their shots & are well fed, but still, I wish they had a home).  He followed us around for the rest of the night...led us to the end of the dock that night, where we discovered millions of little fish sleeping, and then accompanied us on our walk home, making sure we made it safe and sound.  Such a sweet dog.

The next day, we ventured over to Santa Maria beach, the best beach on the island, according to the locals.  We would definitely have to agree…it is beautiful!  We ended up staying here all day, and it was just amazing…so peaceful.

I could do this everyday...

It happened to be Kaila’s birthday during our stay in Paros, so we decided to travel over to Naoussa, known for its nightlife, to celebrate with the birthday girl.  We found a fantastic restaurant right on the harbor, and then after dinner, moved about 2 spots down to a great bar for the rest of the evening.

The next day we were off, yet again, on our last ferry of the trip, to our last island of the trip…SANTORINI!!!!!
